It has been a very hot and dry October here at Ingwe Pan. The vegetation is bone dry and pretty much leafless, desperately waiting for the rains to arrive.
The intense heat has a way of accentuating the smell of decaying meat – and this led us to the main highlight of our last drive. There she was, a gorgeous leopard up in a sausage tree feasting on her impala kill. She was not alone though, below her was a very hungry hyena hoping and waiting for some of the scraps of the kill to fall down.
